Art Workshops: Update For Members.....

There are two remaining Workshops in this year's highly popular series. Since the publication of the recent Newsletter all remaining spaces have been booked. Sorry! 

Peter Cronin [Watercolours] on Thursday, February 12th: All places have been booked and paid for.

Sue McDonagh [Pastels] on Thursday, May 7th: All places have been booked and a waiting list has been established. If you have booked but not yet paid, please send your payment of £15 (cheque payable to the Society) to the Treasurer to secure your place within 7 days.

Winter Programme IV: Advance Notice...

We're rapidly approaching the last friday of the month and anticipation is increasing for the next Demonstration in the Winter Programme, which is scheduled for Friday, January 30th from 1.30pm-4pm at St. Illtyd's Church Hall.

Peter Cronin is the provider and his theme is going to be The Art Of Watercolour. All members are welcome.

As was explained in the recent Newsletter - there won't be an entrance charge or thre usual door raffle, but although there will be a break half way through the Demonstration, no refreshments will be provided.

Obituary: Dr. Pip Knight-Jones

We were saddened to hear of the death of one of our members, Phyllis Knight-Jones.

A Marine Biologist by profession, in her younger days Pip used to SCUBA dive for Tube Worms as part of her research and then make detailed pen and ink drawings of them.

These drawings have appeared in several publications and in many exhibitions staged across the world. In the early 1970s she progressed into painting in a wide range of media and genre.

She had solo exhibitions of her artworks throughout Wales, most recently at the Caernarfon & Blaenau Ffestiniog Libraries (2004) and the Ceri Richards Gallery in Swansea University (2005).

She will be remembered fondly by those members who knew her as a quiet, sincere, intelligent and thoughtful person who was driven by a desire to do what is right and good by everyone she came into contact with.

Her funeral is at 11am on Tuesday 20th January at Swansea Crematorium.

Two reminders...

Painting For Pleasure Group Meetings: These weekly meetings resume this Friday afternoon at 1pm, 9th January, at St Illtyd's.

Art Workshops: A reminder to those members who have pre-booked that the first Workshop in 2009 will be held from 10am-4pm on Thursday 8th January, at St. Illtyd's.

Graham Hadlow is the expert provider and his theme will be Painting Mountains And Lakes through the medium of watercolours.
