Winter Programme II: Advance Notice...

A reminder to members that the Art Demonstration by Andrew Evans, entitled 'Autumn Landscape in Alkyd Oils (Part 2)' will be held this Friday afternoon (i.e. October 30th) at St. Illtyd's Hall, from 1.30pm to 4pm.

Winter Programme Begins...

The last friday of the month is almost upon us.

The first session of this year's Winter Programme of demonstrations is on Friday, September 25th, from 1pm - 4pm at St. Illtyd's Hall.

This is the first part of two demonstrations being given by artist Andrew Evans, entitled 'Autumn Landscape In Alkyd Oils'.

All members are welcome to attend.

Winter Progamme VI: Report...

Over 40 members (and guests) enjoyed Arnold Lowrey's demonstration, where he completed not one, but two large paintings in the two and a half hours allocated!

He showed his methods of how to lay down large washes and produce a strong body of colour, whilst retaining the luminosity of the watercolours when working 'wet'.

His tips on how to use a razor blade and a natural sponge for producing special effects in painting seascapes are now being tried by some of our members - no doubt we'll see the evidence at our next exhibition.

Happy New Year!

We're all looking forward to some serious artistic activity within the Society this year and the planned Programme of Events looks exciting.

Two reminders...

Painting For Pleasure Group Meetings: These weekly meetings resume this Friday afternoon at 1pm, 9th January, at St Illtyd's.

Art Workshops: A reminder to those members who have pre-booked that the first Workshop in 2009 will be held from 10am-4pm on Thursday 8th January, at St. Illtyd's.

Graham Hadlow is the expert provider and his theme will be Painting Mountains And Lakes through the medium of watercolours.

Winter Programme II: Report...

Sue McDonach (pictured here) gave society members a fascinating demonstration of landscape painting and all who attended had a very enjoyable and informative evening.
