Swansea Art Society (S.A.S.) is one of the oldest Art Societies in existence and certainly the oldest in Wales, UK, tracing its roots back to the inaugural committee meeting of the Swansea Sketching Club on the 21st of May, 1886.
The Society was founded for the appreciation, study and practice of the visual arts.
In 1895 it became the Swansea Sketching Club and Art Society, subsequently becoming Swansea Art Society by 1898.
