We had a lovely afternoon at Cwmdonkin Park, Uplands, Swansea.
The Park is most famous for its strong associations with the great Welsh Poet, Dylan Thomas and some members sketched in parts of the Park he immortalised in verse.

Only 3 hardy souls from the membership defied the wet weather and attended the session.
Luckily, the Abbey Church was open and it provided sanctuary from the torrential rainstorms (see photo).
It also provided a lovely peaceful location for sketching purposes!

The next session of the Summer Sketching 2008 programme is Saturday, September 6th and the venue is at Margam Park.

We had a lovely afternoon at the Swansea Marina and the ten members who attended sat outdoors and sketched the boats, with plenty of interested spectators happening by.
Thankfully the penultimate day of August proved much more conducive for plein air painting, when compared to the rest of the month!

The next outdoor sketching session is planned for 12noon - 4pm next Saturday, 30th August.
The venue is the Swansea Marina - follow the road past the Marriott Hotel and continue to the mini-roundabout car park.
We hope the weather is more conducive to outdoor painting than last year!
We thought we'd include a photograph of the lock at Resolven, just to prove that there are sunny days on this canal and that it would have been an ideal spot to paint. If only....! For the second year running, our attempt to paint outdoors at Resolven, on the Neath Canal has been thwarted by heavy rain.
